My journey into astrophotography

My fascination with astronomy began in the early 90s while living in southern Ireland. I vividly remember spending countless hours with a school friend, setting up a telescope under pristine rural skies, and observing the heavens. Those early experiences ignited a profound appreciation for the immense scale and beauty of the universe, a passion that continues to drive my work today.

Making the most of every clear night

While my full-time work limits the hours I can dedicate to stargazing and astrophotography, I am committed to making the most of every clear night. My focus is on capturing high-quality data and investing significant time in post-processing. This approach allows me to create astroimages that showcase the wonders of the night sky, even with limited observing time.

Sharing the cosmic view

I want every visitor to my website to enjoy the images and perhaps learn something new about the night sky. My aim is to inspire awe and curiosity about the cosmos, just as I was inspired all those years ago. Through my work, I hope to share the profound beauty and scientific marvels that lie beyond our planet.

My passion, recognised

I am proud to have had several of my images published in magazines. I have also actively participated in local outreach astronomy events, sharing my view of the night skies with the community. Notable achievements include presenting my images during an exhibition at the Eden Project in St Austell and setting up my telescope there for a Stargazing Live event, where I had the joy of showing visitors the planet Saturn. I even built solar eclipse viewers out of shoeboxes and attended my children's primary school to share the experience of an eclipse with the students.
